Under relevant laws, such a motion against the president should be voted on within 72 hours after being submitted, but not before 24 hours have passed.
Opposition parties including the main opposition Democratic Party (DP), plan to put it to a vote during the National Assembly's plenary session slated for 4 p.m. Saturday.
To pass the motion, it must secure a two-thirds majority of the 300-seat National Assembly or 200 votes.
Given that the opposition bloc including the DP and five other minor parties holds a combined 192 votes and the ruling People Power Party holds 108 seats, at least 8 lawmakers from the PPP must vote in favor of impeachment for the motion to pass.
So far, about seven PPP lawmakers have publicly expressed their support for impeachment.
The first attempt to impeach Yoon last Saturday failed to meet the required quorum, with the motion being dismissed after only 195 lawmakers voted — 192 from the opposition bloc and three from the PPP.
With a growing number of people demanding Yoon step down after his 30-minute-long pre-recorded nationwide address the previous day sparked even more controversy, the embattled president is set to face a crucial vote at 4 p.m. on Saturday, which will decide his fate.
Meanwhile, to prevent possible crowding and chaos before the vote, a two-day entry restriction to the National Assembly was placed on Friday.
