Korea to hold mega shopping festival next month

SEOUL, November 1 (AJP) - South Korea will kick off its largest nationwide shopping event, Korea Sale Festa, on Nov. 9 for a 22-day run, with a record 2,600 companies participating, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Friday.

The event includes participation from major retailers like Shinsegae and Lotte, and various online platforms such as SSG.com, Coupang and Naver, all offering additional discounts on products ranging from daily necessities to cultural activities and leisure services.

Major automakers are offering steep discounts, with Hyundai Motor expanding its lineup to 24 models including up to 5 million won ($3,800) off on the Porter EV and 2 million won on the Sonata and Santa Fe. Kia has increased its discounted models to eight, while GM Korea is offering up to 15 percent off on flagship models like the Traverse and Tahoe.

Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics joined the festival with discounts on up to 15 and 12 product categories, respectively, offering accumulated purchase rewards of up to 5.59 million won and 5.2 million won in cashback.
