According to Pyongyang's state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), North Korean military found that the drone carrying propaganda leaflets, which crashed in Pyongyang earlier this month, took off from South Korea's westernmost island of Baeknyeong Island. It said its assessment came after analyzing the drone's debris and flight routes.
The accusations follow North Korea's earlier claim that South Korean drones were detected in Pyongyang three times this month and threatened to respond strongly if such incidents occur again.
Th North further elaborated that the drone launched on Oct. 8 around midnight and intruded into North Korean airspace. It allegedly flew over the waters off the west sea before reaching Pyongyang.
It also claimed that it contained 238 flight plans and logs from June to October this year Except for the latest incident, all other logs reportedly showed flights within South Korea.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister Yo-jong lashed out at South Korea for its silence, saying "I'd like to see how the dirty curs in Seoul bark" if a drone appears over Seoul. Her remarks seem to refer to statements from the South Korean military, which has said it cannot confirm North Korea's accusations, which it deems not worth responding to.
