The survey, conducted in March by data storage company Pure Storage and pollster Embrain, involved IT professionals from 200 domestic firms with over 500 employees.
The findings indicate that 34.5 percent of businesses have already integrated AI into specific departments, while 39 percent are running AI pilot projects. The most common areas of AI application include IT operations, cybersecurity, and chatbots.
Despite these developments, many companies feel unprepared for full AI integration. A significant 75.9 percent believe their existing IT infrastructure needs an overhaul, while 18.3 percent suggest a complete revamp. Additionally, 65 percent said their organizations are not sufficiently prepared for AI adoption.
The primary obstacles to AI implementation include high investment costs, lack of in-house expertise and unproven solutions. Notably, 79.1 percent of respondents expressed concerns that increased power consumption due to AI could negatively impact their environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals.
"It is crucial for domestic companies to prepare for changes and secure flexibility in line with the AI era. Investing in sustainable and energy-efficient AI data platforms is essential,” said Yoo Jae-sung, president of Pure Storage Korea.
