The five members of the band were appointed as promotional ambassadors for Korean tourism at an event held at Grand Hyatt Seoul in the capital.
At the event which drew a huge crowd eager to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars, the KTO also unveiled a video clip featuring them, aimed at promoting tourism to Korea. It hopes to capitalize on their burgeoning global popularity to attract their fans and potential tourists from around the world to visit Korea.
"I want to express my gratitude to them for taking on this role of promoting Korea globally," Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In-chon said at the event.
Minji, the eldest of the quintet, expressed her delight at the role, saying "I will do my best to let people worldwide know how attractive Korea is."
When asked what she would recommend for foreign travelers seeking exquisite tour experiences, another member Haerin suggested visiting hanok or traditional Korean houses, during their stay here.
Vietnamese-Australian member Hanni suggested that visitors should try delicious Korean summer dishes like Samgyetang (chicken soup with ginseng) or Mulnaengmyeon (cold noodles).
The special performance garnered much attention as they mesmerized audiences with the beauty of hanbok along with traditional Korean culture.
