SEOUL -- Kia Motors, a subsidiary of South Korea's Hyundai auto group, has revealed the revamped version of its iconic medium-sized sport utility vehicle (SUV), Sorento.

Sorento first hit the market in 2002. The first generation of Sorento received positive feedback from consumers for its streamlined design which stood out among square box-shaped SUVs. Kia released two more models of Sorento in 2009 and 2004.

Images showing the new version of Sorento, scheduled to be released in March, were revealed on Monday. Sorento bears a masculine look with a radiator grille that resembles the nose of a tiger. Its facial line connected by the grille and headlamps forms a bold design that makes the SUV look wider than its actual size.

"The design of the new Sorento, which is strong and sophisticated, will be the strongest sales point that would attract customers," a Kia official said in a statement.

Sorento's interior has gone through major design changes. It houses a 12.3-inch cluster dashboard and a 10.25-inch infotainment system that provides features such as navigation, audio and video entertainment.

Kia said that it designed Sorento's cockpit-like interior to provide a driver with an intuitive driving environment so that he or she can monitor and control all the latest technology features such as semi-autonomous driving. Mechanical specifications were not disclosed.
