While South Korean motels and inns do not restrict guests from using food delivery services, almost every business hotels and high-class hotels ban deliverymen from moving through the lobby into residential areas in a bid to prevent from rooms being contaminated by the smell of delivered food and food stains. However, hotels do not normally ban guests from bringing food to their rooms.
Shilla Stay said in a statement that the business hotel franchise has launched a room delivery service for delivered food. When customers make food orders through smartphone food delivery services, hotel employees will pick up food packages from the lobby and carry them to guests' rooms.
The room delivery service is offered at three Shilla Stay hotels in Seoul on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. "Guests who use hotels that do not have many in-house restaurants prefer to use food delivery services. We adopted the new room delivery service to reduce our guests inconveniences," a Shilla Hotel official said.
