According to the South Korean tech giant, consumers' reaction is wild. The number of pre-orders made for Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 in South Korea, Europe, Southeast Asian countries, and the Middle and South Americas exceeded the number of pre-orders made for the phones' predecessors. More than one million pre-orders were made in South Korea alone, Samsung's data showed.
Samsung said the company will provide hefty benefits such as accessory gifts to customers who purchase newly-released products by September 30. Those who buy new foldable phones would be able to choose from a one-year "Samsung Care Plus" warranty or a gift voucher which they could use at Samsung's online event shopping malls. Buyers of the new tablet PC will be given an opportunity to purchase accessories at 50 percent discounted prices.
"Through the next-generation foldable smartphones, watches, and tablet PC products, we have worked hard to deliver new and attractive lifestyle-matching experiences for our different customer groups. I am happy that our vision was able to earn approval from global customers," Samsung Electronics President Roh Tae-moon said in a statement on August 11.
