SEOUL, February 26 (AJP) - South Korean robotics company Hyodol is showcasing its latest artificial intelligence-powered companion robot at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC), which kicked off its four-day run in Barcelona, Spain earlier this week.
Hyodol said Thursday that its latest innovation for the annual trade show is a feature called "Advanced Voice Mode," which allows for smoother, more natural conversations.
According to Hyodol, the new feature enables the robot to fluidly continue dialogue even when interrupted, providing a more intuitive experience — especially for older adults who may struggle with rigid command-based interactions.
At last year's MWC, the company's robot of the same name won a Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO). The firm returns this year with an enhanced version of the AI-driven care robot. Designed to support elderly users, the upgraded model integrates advanced technology to improve user interaction and accessibility.
In addition to its existing proficiency in English, Chinese, and Spanish, the robot has significantly expanded its multilingual capabilities, now supporting communication in 50 different languages including Arabic and Hindi.
In compliance with safety regulations, the company recently received Class 1 certification from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), affirming that its robot meets international safety standards for low-risk medical devices.
The robot is also equipped with GPS tracking, making it easy to locate in case of theft or misplacement. This feature allows for real-time location monitoring, ensuring that lost units can be quickly recovered.
"We're very proud of the robot's evolutionary improvements over the past year, providing an even more advanced care service to customers. Our focus goes beyond upgrades, as we are committed to creating truly user-friendly AI care services," said Hyodol CEO Kim Ji-hee.
