Such an advisory is issued when five or more centimeters of snow are expected to accumulate over 24 hours, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
Up to 10 cm of snow is expected to blanket Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan areas, disrupting commuters during evening rush hours, while southern regions including Chungcheong and Jeolla provinces, which have already been piled with heavy snowfall from earlier this week, are also forecast to have more blizzards until Friday.
Meanwhile, the current cold spell is expected to abate early next week, with temperatures returning to the seasonal average.
