SEOUL, January 23 (AJP) - The Indonesian Embassy in Seoul has denied reports that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering relocating several Palestinian residents of Gaza to Indonesia.

In a statement to AJP on Wednesday, the Indonesian government clarified, "The Government of Indonesia has never received any information from anyone, nor any plans regarding the relocation of some of Gaza's 2 million inhabitants to Indonesia as part of post-conflict reconstruction efforts."

The embassy further added that the Indonesian government refrains from speculating on issues for which no information has been received.

Previously, NBC News reported that Trump's envoy was allegedly planning to rebuild Gaza, including the relocation of up to two million Palestinians. Indonesia was reportedly considered a possible destination.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, during his candidacy in June last year, expressed support for the idea of sending 1,000 Palestinian refugee children from Gaza to Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia.

However, the Indonesian government later explained that this was merely an initial idea and that no concrete proposals or plans had been made.

As a predominantly Muslim nation, Indonesia supports Palestine's independence and does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel.
