A survey of over 1,000 adults, by the National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted earlier this week and released Thursday, found that about 35 percent supported the PPP, up 3 percentage points from the previous week, while around 33 percent backed the main opposition Democratic Party (DP), down by the same margin.
The tad-bit reversal came just a day after Yoon's arrest by investigators from the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) for questioning. This marks the first time in about four months that the PPP has outpaced the DP, last doing so in September last year with a narrow margin of 28 percent to 26 percent, respectively.
But about 17 percent of respondents remained undecided.
When asked about the most favored candidate for the next presidency, DP leader Lee Jae-myung led the race with 28 percent, followed by Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo at 13 percent, Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo at 8 percent, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon at 6 percent, and former PPP leader Han Dong-hoon at 5 percent.
