LAS VEGAS, January 8 (AJP) - CES 2025 offered a global stage for South Korea's top conglomerates to spotlight their commitment to artificial intelligence (AI) as a cornerstone of future growth and collaboration.
Representatives from Samsung, LG, SK, and LS unveiled their latest innovations, emphasizing the transformative role of AI in their strategies.
Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, underscored AI's growing integration into daily life, a concept he termed "physical AI," during a press conference on Wednesday.
He highlighted the need for South Korea to prioritize AI infrastructure, likening its impact to the industrial revolution. "AI is not optional; it’s becoming a transformative force across all sectors, much like the steam engine once was," Chey said.
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics showcased AI-driven solutions that aim to redefine user experiences through interconnected smart devices.
Samsung introduced its SmartThings Pro, a business-to-business extension of its AI-powered home ecosystem. Designed for industrial spaces such as offices, hotels, and schools, the system promises enhanced energy management and streamlined facility maintenance.
“We aim to move beyond simply increasing the number of AI-enabled devices," said Samsung Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee. "Our goal is to create a seamlessly integrated ‘home AI’ ecosystem that adjusts intuitively and efficiently.”
LG Electronics unveiled its Mobile Experience (MX) platform, which extends AI solutions into vehicles to create personalized mobile environments.
“Our ultimate goal is to create comprehensive customer experiences through empathetic intelligence, no matter where life takes us," said CEO Cho Joo-wan.
LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-eun highlighted the global shift from hardware to AI and software dominance.
“The key is how we integrate AI into production, procurement, and quality control. Developing software is essential for our growth,” Koo said in an interview.
Koo, a CES regular for the past years, echoed the sentiments of his peers, affirming South Korea’s determination to lead in AI innovation on a global scale.
