SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Lotte Corp. Vice President Shin Yoo-yeol, SK Telecom CEO Yoo Young-sang and LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo are attending the world's largest electronics show in Las Vegas from Tuesday to Friday.
Chey is expected to meet Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on Wednesday to discuss the supply of high-bandwidth memory semiconductors. Huang told reporters the previous day that he is looking forward to the meeting.
Shin, the eldest son of Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin, toured the Lotte Innovate's booth, exploring the company's metaverse platform Caliverse and reviewing the North American operations of its electric vehicle charging system, EVSIS.
The metaverse and EV charging infrastructure are among the group's key growth initiatives. Lotte Innovate established EVSIS America last year to produce EV chargers and is intensifying efforts to break into the North American market.
SK Telecom's Yoo expressed optimism about SK's AI agent, Aster, which is set to launch in the U.S. market in March.
“AI agents are emerging as a dominant trend among tech companies,” he said. “In the long run, I foresee the AI industry evolving toward the concept of avatars. Through Aster, we aim to see how far SK Telecom can go on the global stage.”
He also praised Samsung’s AI-powered SmartThings home platform as an impressive example of practical AI applications. “AI appears to have reached a new level of maturity,” Yoo said.
