LAS VEGAS, January 5 (AJP) - South Korea’s leading technology companies are poised to unveil groundbreaking advancements in artificial intelligence at CES 2025, the world’s largest electronics and IT trade show, which kicks off Tuesday here.

The four-day event will also serve as a platform for these firms to forge strategic alliances with global tech giants, further cementing their standing in the international arena.

As of Sunday (local time), two days before the official opening, major Korean companies had already established their booths in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, getting ready to captivate audiences with cutting-edge displays.

This year’s CES will feature approximately 4,500 companies from 160 countries, with more than 1,000 South Korean firms participating - a record-breaking turnout. This represents a doubling of the country's participation since 2022 and a 259-company increase from the previous year, positioning South Korea as the third-largest contributor, following the United States and China.

Gary Shapiro, CEO of the Consumer Technology Association, lauded South Korea’s pivotal role in the event, stating, “Korean innovation is integral to CES’s success.”

Shapiro highlighted Samsung and LG’s consistent delivery of transformative technologies, noting their contributions as vital not just for the trade show but for the global tech ecosystem.

The heads of South Korea’s major conglomerates are also set to make appearances. Samsung Electronics’ vice chairman, Han Jong-hee, who leads the company’s device experience division, will headline a press conference on Monday.

Other high-ranking executives, including Yong Seok-woo, president of the visual display division, and Lee Won-jin, president of the global marketing division, are also expected to be present.
