The vessel, a 174,000-cubic-meter liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, was built at the HD Hyundai Samho Co. shipyard in South Jeolla Province. The ship was completed roughly two and a half years after the order was placed by an Asian shipping company in June 2022.
The momentum continues this week, with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. and HD Hyundai Mipo Shipyard set to deliver a 16,000 TEU container ship and a 2,800 TEU container ship, respectively, on Tuesday.
In 2024, HD KSOE delivered 144 vessels, including 23 LNG carriers, 16 LPG carriers, and 81 container ships. For 2025, HD KSOE plans another robust year, targeting deliveries of 144 ships: 26 LNG carriers, 14 LPG carriers, 40 container ships, and 50 petrochemical and crude oil carriers, among others. Many of these vessels will feature eco-friendly designs and cutting-edge technology.
"The shipbuilding industry's export growth is likely to persist thanks to rising orders for high-value, environmentally friendly LNG carriers and shipbuilding components," an industry official said. "With Donald Trump back in office, demand for LNG and fossil fuel vessels in the United States is also expected to expand."
As global demand for green technology grows, HD KSOE remains focused on cementing its position as a leader in the production of advanced, sustainable maritime vessels, the company said.
