SEOUL, January 3 (AJP) - The National Intelligence Service (NIS) is currently investigating whether two children recently spotted with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister Yo-jong could be her kids, the spy agency here said on Friday.

Speculation arose shortly after North Korea's state television aired footage of Yo-jong walking alongside a boy and a girl after attending an event for the New Year's celebrations in Pyongyang earlier this week.

The NIS said it is looking into the possibility if they could be hers, as she was believed to have given birth in May 2015. Earlier it also determined that she was eight months pregnant in February 2018, when she visited South Korea for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

Rumors about her marriage, pregnancy, and childbirth have been consistently circulated, yet none have been officially confirmed.

The reclusive country, with its hereditary transfer of power, remains shrouded in secrecy when it comes to the Kim dynasty, particularly their offspring.
