Excitement builds as Netflix's megahit series 'Squid Game' returns for second season

SEOUL, December 26 (AJP) - Netflix's megahit South Korean series "Squid Game" is returning with its second season on Thursday.
The much-anticipated dystopian show centers on the last survivor of a deadly game from the first season, who returns to seek vengeance and faces off against the enigmatic "Front Man."
The seven-episode series explores their intense rivalry and the restart of the game.
Even before its release, the second season has already earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best TV Drama Series, marking yet another milestone for the franchise.
Released in September 2021, the first season shattered multiple Netflix records, amassing 1.65 billion viewing hours within its first 28 days. It topped the global platform's charts in 94 countries and maintained its position for an unprecedented 106 consecutive days. The total viewing time has surpassed 2.3 billion hours.
"Squid Game" also made history as the first non-English language series to win six Emmy Awards the following year.
Netflix held several promotional events for global fans in about a dozen countries, just ahead of the upcoming season of the series. The events featured traditional folk games, performances, and other activities that allowed participants to immerse themselves in Korean culture and cuisine.
