SEOUL, December 26 (AJP) - Members of K-pop group NewJeans on on Tuesday revealed the reasoning behind their recent support for fans attending protests against President Yoon Suk Yeol during a radio talk show.

The group had previously paid in advance for food and beverages for 560 people at the protests demanding the impeachment of Yoon for his Dec. 3. declaration of martial law.

"We wanted people to have warm food in the cold weather and share meaningful conversations with others around them," Danielle, a member of NewJeans, said during a Christmas special episode of CBS Radio's "Kim Hyun-jung's News Show."

Fellow member Haerin noted that their fan club, known as "Bunnies," appreciated the gesture.

"The Bunnies (the fan club name) also liked it. We prepared enough for others to enjoy it too, and it makes me happy thinking that they all had something warm to eat," she said.

Minji expressed satisfaction at seeing photos of fans gathering with their light sticks and sharing meals.

During the radio show, the members appeared using their individual names - Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein - rather than their group name.

The members announced their departure from their management company, ADOR, at an emergency press conference on Nov. 28.
