SEOUL, November 29 (AJP) - Heavy rains and landslides have claimed 27 lives in Indonesia's North Sumatra over the past week, with the latest incident on Thursday killing seven people when a tourist bus was hit by falling trees and mud, local authorities reported.

Thailand's disaster agency said torrential rains have submerged more than 136,000 households across seven southern provinces including Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, and Songkhla, with Narathiwat province recording 1,100mm of rainfall over seven days, including 502mm on Tuesday. Three deaths were reported across the southern provinces.

The severe weather has also affected neighboring Malaysia, where 60,000 people were displaced in the northern states of Kelantan, Kedah, and Terengganu, while in Sri Lanka, the Disaster Management Center reported 12 deaths, including six children, with over 400,000 people evacuated due to flooding and landslide risks from recent cyclonic conditions.
