SEOUL, November 25 (AJP) - Pakistani director Iram Parveen Bilal was honored with the Best Director Feature Film award at the 5th Yellowstone International Film Festival for her film Wakhri, meaning "one of a kind" in Punjabi.

The movie takes inspiration from the life of Qandeel Baloch, a murdered Pakistani social media star.

In the movie, Baloch appeared as Noor, a schoolteacher who becomes a social media sensation after losing her spouse. She faces unexpected challenges and societal pressures as she navigates her sudden fame.

"Thank you for the honor, [YIFF] jury and organizers," Bilal said on Instagram on Thursday. "[Wakhri] shines brightest with its audiences. Deep gratitude to my entire team, cast and crew alike, for enhancing my vision every step of the way."

The annual Yellowstone International Film Festival, held in India, took place in Mumbai and New Delhi this year. This year's edition received submissions of more than 2,490 films from 120 countries.
