SEOUL, November 20 (AJP) - Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba expressed his intention to foster collaboration with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, emphasizing the importance of their bilateral alliance for Indo-Pacific stability.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday following his South American diplomatic tour, Ishiba addressed the postponed meeting with Trump, which could not take place due to U.S. legal restrictions on president-elects meeting foreign leaders.

"I will explain in detail that Japan-U.S. cooperation will not only benefit Japan or the United States but will contribute to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region," Ishiba said.

The Japanese leader, who assumed office in October, met with various global leaders including U.S. President Joe Biden during his attendance at the APEC summit in Peru and the G20 summit in Brazil.

He aims to strengthen partnerships with countries including South Korea, Australia, India, and the Philippines amid growing concerns over Russian and Chinese activities in the region.
