The remarks came at a summit with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Xi expressed hope that Germany would continue playing a pivotal role in these discussions.
Reflecting on Scholz's visit to China in April, Xi described their previous talks as open, in-depth, and productive. Over the past six months, China and Germany have made efforts in areas such as green development, sustainable transportation, and agricultural cooperation in Africa, bringing renewed energy to their bilateral ties.
Scholz acknowledged progress in Germany-China relations since his visit to China earlier this year. He emphasized the importance of deepening communication and cooperation between both nations amid complex international dynamics.
Scholz expressed Germany's desire to further strengthen its strategic partnership with China, promote dialogue and cooperation rooted in equality and mutual respect, and resolve differences to achieve mutual benefits and contribute to global economic growth and shared prosperity.
He also voiced optimism about resolving the EU-China electric vehicle issue through dialogue, pledging Germany's support in these efforts.
The leaders also discussed the Ukraine crisis, the situation in the Middle East, and other pressing international issues.
