Expo highlights growth, innovation of South Korean small firms

SEOUL, November 15 (AJP) - An event designed to highlight the growth and achievements of South Korean SMEs took place in the southeastern port city of Ulsan, the Korea Management Innovation Association for Small and Medium Businesses (MainBiz Association) said Friday.

The two-day "2024 SME Technology and Management Innovation Expo," which began on Thursday, aimed to inspire innovation through awards for contributors, innovation-focused conferences, and presentations on growth cases from four innovative firms. Hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and co-organized by the MainBiz Association, the InnoBiz Association, and Ulsan Metropolitan City.

A presentation by Kim Ki-chan, International Chancellor at President University in Indonesia and Chairman of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB), highlighted growth cases from four innovative firms.

Kim introduced IBS Implant, a dental implant manufacturer, for its success in developing and localizing a biocompatible, advanced-generation implant. The company has expanded into domestic and international markets, achieving notable results and reaching 27.3 billion won ($19.5 million) in revenue in 2023.

H-Energy, an eco-friendly energy solutions provider, is known for its innovations in ESG management through the solar power trading platform Mohaet and solar power plant management service SolarOnCare.

Conotec, a digital temperature controller manufacturer, has evolved into a global SME, exporting to 34 countries, driven by continuous R&D, new product launches, and marketing innovations.

Safectt, a safety device manufacturer, was recognized for its factory automation (FA) products, including safety door switches and key switches.

Following the presentation, the event featured a roundtable discussion focused on sharing management know-how.
