SEOUL, November 15 (AJP) - Human Rights Watch (HRW) has accused Israel of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, including forced displacements that the group says amount to ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

According to HRW's report, released Thursday, Palestinians have been killed while attempting to evacuate under Israeli orders, as well as in designated "safe zones," where hundreds of thousands are crowded into makeshift tent camps.

The report highlights the extensive demolition of homes and civilian infrastructure across Gaza, particularly along a military road dividing the region and in a buffer zone near the border. HRW says that this destruction may result in the permanent displacement of many Palestinians.

Israel's military responded, claiming the report distorts the situation and omits key context. The military maintains that civilian casualties are a result of Hamas operating in residential areas, adding that Israel does not target civilians intentionally.

Local health officials report that Israel's 13-month conflict in Gaza has led to over 43,000 Palestinian deaths, primarily of women and children, though these figures do not differentiate between civilians and combatants.
