"The suicide attack drones to be used within different striking ranges are to perform a mission to precisely attack any enemy targets on the ground and in the sea," the North's state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
According to KCNA, Kim expressed satisfaction during his on-site inspection of a drone test the previous day, emphasizing that drones have become "an essential requirement in military aspects nowadays."
Kim also stressed "the need to build a serial production system as early as possible and go into full-scale mass production," KCNA quoted Kim as saying.
Suicide attack drones, also known as loitering munitions or kamikaze drones, are capable of striking enemy targets with pinpoint accuracy.
North Korea had unveiled tests of its suicide drones for the first time in August, with Kim calling for their rapid deployment.
