Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation with Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov, who was visiting India on Monday.
The areas of cooperation to be strengthened include trade, economic ties, and energy sectors.
During the meeting, Modi expressed his anticipation of an opportunity to communicate with Russian President Vladimir Putin to further bolster cooperation between the two countries.
In July, Modi visited Moscow and held a summit with President Putin, where both leaders agreed to increase bilateral trade from the current 60 billion dollars to 100 billion dollars by 2030.
Russia currently ranks as India's fourth-largest trading partner after the United States, China, and the United Arab Emirates.
India has refrained from criticizing Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and continues to import Russian oil at low prices due to Western sanctions that have limited Russia's export options.
