AI-generated host debuts on home shopping show

SEOUL, November 11 (AJP) - An AI-generated version of South Korean show host Choi Yuna debuted on a home shopping broadcast.

Created by the Korean AI startup DeepBrain AI, the virtual host was featured during a Lotte Home Shopping broadcast in September, which selled Spain and Portugal package tours, the company said Monday.  

The human Choi Yuna appeared alongside the AI host.

The AI host was generated using "AI Studios," DeepBrain AI's video synthesis platform designed to create videos with AI-generated humans replacing live hosts.

By applying AI image generation technology to previously recorded footage of Choi’s face and movements, the AI host allows the show to be conducted without her physical presence.

“The AI host created through AI Studios can implement natural appearances and movements, just like a real host,” said DeepBrain AI CEO Jang Se-young.
