SEOUL, November 8 (AJP) - Israeli airstrikes struck southern Beirut suburbs early Thursday, targeting areas near Lebanon’s only international airport. The Israeli military issued evacuation orders for the location, citing Hezbollah infrastructure in the vicinity but did not provide further details.

Additionally, on Thursday, Israel’s military announced an expansion of its ground operations in northern Gaza, specifically into Beit Lahiya. This area, heavily bombarded since the beginning of the conflict, is reportedly where Hamas fighters have regrouped.

Hezbollah leader Naim Kassem said in a televised address on Wednesday that the group would consider a cease-fire only if Israeli attacks ceased. His remarks coincided with the end of a 40-day mourning period for former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in Beirut.

Hezbollah began launching attacks into Israel on Oct. 8, 2023, in support of Hamas in Gaza. According to Lebanon’s health ministry, the conflict has resulted in over 3,100 deaths and around 13,800 injuries in Lebanon so far.
