SEOUL, November 7 (AJP) - India has reportedly submitted a Letter of Intent (LOI) to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), conveying intentions to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

According to news reports on Wednesday, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) sent the LOI to the IOC on Oct. 1.

In the letter, the Indian Olympic Association emphasized the importance of hosting the Olympics in India, noting the country’s population includes more than 600 million people under the age of 25 and underscoring the need to inspire this young generation, according to sources.

Following the submission, the IOC is expected to assess the feasibility of India’s Olympic hosting plans before moving into full-scale discussions with the country.

While India has hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982, it has never hosted the Olympics.
