Under the patronage of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this 16th edition underscores the UAE capital's growing status as a global jiu-jitsu hub, a notable expansion from the first championship, which had only 260 participants.
Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohamed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, highlighted the event’s role in attracting top international talent and inspiring future generations. "This championship strengthens Abu Dhabi's position as a jiu-jitsu center and inspires excellence in the sport," he said.
The UAE team arrives at the event following a successful performance at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Greece, where they won nine medals, including two golds, and secured their fifth consecutive title in the adult category. Veteran competitor Robinho Silva, who represents the UAE and has witnessed the sport's growth locally, expressed optimism for the championship, saying he is "aiming for gold" this year.
To accommodate the record attendance, this year's championship will expand with additional mats, a longer schedule, and increased capacity. The event will culminate on Nov. 16 with the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Awards, celebrating standout athletes, academies, and federations.
The press conference unveiling event details was attended by several UAE officials, including Saud Abdulaziz Al Hosani from the Department of Culture and Tourism and Aref Hamad Al Awani of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
