SEOUL, November 4 (AJP) - Thousands of North Korean troops armed with assault weapons and other military gear have been deployed to border areas near Ukraine since late last month, Kyiv's intelligence agency said.

According to Ukraine's Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) last weekend, Russia has moved more than 7,000 North Korean soldiers to "the frontline with the help of at least 28 military transport aircraft."

North Korean soldiers, who are likely to join the fight alongside Russian forces in the Kursk region, are equipped with a range of weaponry including "mortars, AK-12 rifles, RPK/PKM machine guns, SVD/SVF sniper rifles, Phoenix ATGMs, and RPG-7s." They also carry "night vision equipment, thermal imagers, collimator sights, and binoculars."

Meanwhile, South Korea is expected to finalize plans for sending a delegation to Ukraine to monitor North Korean troops' activities and other measures after its advance team returns to Seoul early this week.

The delegation may include individuals skilled in interrogating captured or escaped North Korean soldiers, alongside military officials with expertise in analyzing war tactics and combat capabilities.
