Over 100 guests and other attendees including Lee Dong-hwan, the mayor of Goyang and several ambassadors from Latin American countries gathered for the occasion.
"The center, which has served as a bridge between Latin America and South Korea, is the result of the lifelong dedication of former diplomat Lee Bok-hyung and his wife," said Han Byung-kil, president of the Korea Council on Latin America and the Caribbean (KCLAC).
"The council has collaborated with center to enhance South Korea's diplomatic relations with Latin American countries and will continue to work together in promoting mutual understanding and friendly exchanges," he added.
Founded by Lee in 1994, the center showcases a vast collection amassed during his three decades of diplomatic service in Latin America. Visitors can explore the center's rich exhibits to gain a deeper understanding of Latin American history and culture.
"This exhibition is especially meaningful as it marks the center's 30th anniversary. Events like this are crucial for fostering understanding and strengthening ties. I hope the center continues to be a bridge for cooperation between South Korea and Latin America for the next 30 years," he added.
Born in Mexico City in 1967, Chávez began studying sculpture and painting when he was a little boy, influenced by his father who was also a sculptor. After graduating from the National School of Plastic Arts in San Carlos, he has built a successful career.
