Chinese vice president meets with Indonesian president

SEOUL, October 21 (AJP) - The past decade has seen significant progress in China-Indonesia relations, with the two countries' leaders working together to strengthen their partnership and build a shared future, said Chinese Vice President Han Zheng last week.

Invited by the Indonesian government, Han, representing Chinese President Xi Jinping, attended the inauguration of President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta last Sunday.

Han highlighted the strong growth in China-Indonesia relations over the past 10 years, with the two nations' leaders collaborating to enhance their ties and foster greater cooperation.

He emphasized China's commitment to strengthening its long-standing friendship with Indonesia, deepening strategic coordination, and advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. Han also stressed the importance of ensuring the continued smooth operation of major projects like the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway to further boost bilateral cooperation.

Han expressed hope that President Joko would continue to support the development of their relationship and uphold the close friendship between the two nations.

President Joko Widodo noted that the strategic partnership between Indonesia and China has been steadily advancing in recent years, bringing  positive results.

He described the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway as a landmark project symbolizing the strong cooperation between the two countries. Joko affirmed Indonesia's readiness to continue collaborating with China to ensure the railway operates efficiently.

He also expressed Indonesia's commitment to further enhancing ties with China, stating that under the new Indonesian government, their bilateral relations would continue to reach new heights.
