SEOUL, October 14 (AJP) - About 300 robotics companies will showcase their latest products at RobotWorld 2024, South Korea's largest robot exhibition, to be held from Oct. 23 to 26, organizers said.

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the 19th annual event will take place at KINTEX exhibition center in Goyang, northwest of Seoul.

About 250 Korean companies and 50 international firms, specializing in areas such as smart factory automation, autonomous logistics robots, medical and defense robots, as well as robot components and software, will participate, according to organizers.

The event is co-organized by the Korea Association of Robot Industry, the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, and the Institute of Control, Robotics, and Systems.

"We will showcase Gaemi, an autonomous robot that represents our future potential and opportunities," said Lee Sun-young, a business team leader at Robotis, during a press conference Friday at a Seoul hotel.

Gaemi, meaning "ant" in Korean, is used to collect recyclables and deliver food and drinks. Both indoor and outdoor versions can carry loads of up to 30 kilograms and operate for eight hours on a single charge.

Tesollo, known for its grippers, will demonstrate its new robotic hand, the DG-5F, which mimics the movements of human finger joints.

The exhibition will also feature side events, such as an overseas export consultation meeting. A robot business conference will be held on Oct. 23-24, followed by an international robot contest.
