South Korean, Canadian writers team up for anthology

SEOUL, October 11 (AJP) - South Korean and Canadian writers gathered to celebrate the publication of their anthology at an event in Seoul on Thursday.
 


The collection of short stories authored by different writers is part of projects to commemorate cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The book, written in collaboration with eight writers – Bora Chung, Kim Ae-ran, Kim Mella and Yun Ko-eun from Korea, along with Jordan Scott, Kim Thúy, Lisa Bird-Wilson and Yann Martel from Canada – deals with a variety of issues and topics ranging from immigration and ethnicity to artificial intelligence (AI).

"I want to express how pleased I am to be here and to be a part of this group of really talented writers and to contribute to this anthology," said Lisa Bird-Wilson, appreciating their collaborative efforts.

"This is more than just a collection of stories," said Canadian Ambassador to South Korea Tamara Mawhinney. "It really reminds us that while we may come from different corners of the world, the themes that resonate us, hope, memory, belonging, identity are universal," she added.
