SEOUL, October 10 (AJP) - Samsung Electronics has dropped from its four-year reign as the top company in Forbes' "World's Best Employers" list, now ranking third behind Microsoft and Alphabet.

Forbes on Thursday announced the result of its survey of over 300,000 employees from 50 countries to evaluate 850 multinational companies.

The assessment criteria included willingness to recommend the employer, along with factors such as salary, talent development and remote work options.

Samsung's decline in ranking coincides with significant losses in its semiconductor business, totaling nearly 15 trillion won ($11.2 billion) in the past year. The company also faced its first-ever general strike in July, led by its largest union, the National Samsung Electronics Labor Union, reflecting growing internal tensions.

Despite the drop, Samsung remains the only Asian company in the top 10. The list is predominantly occupied by American and European firms, including Adobe, BMW Group and Delta Air Lines.

Notably, AI-related companies saw significant improvements in their rankings. Nvidia jumped 132 spots to 22nd place, while TSMC climbed 316 positions to 218th, reflecting the growing importance of AI in the tech industry.

Among other Korean companies, KB Financial Group made a substantial leap to 11th place, up from 48th last year. In total, 24 Korean firms made the list, including Shinhan Financial Group, Kia Corp. and Hyundai Motor Co.
