SEOUL, September 26 (AJP) - Samsung Electronics has launched the 990 EVO Plus, a high-performance consumer solid state drive (SSD) based on PCIe (peripheral component interconnect express) 4.0 technology. This new product features 8th generation V-NAND (Vertical NAND) and a 5nm controller, delivering industry-leading performance and power efficiency.

The 990 EVO Plus boasts sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,250MB/s and 6,300MB/s respectively, marking a 45 percent and 50 percent improvement over its predecessor. This enhanced performance also comes with a 70 percent increase in power efficiency.

Available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, the new lineup includes a high-capacity 4TB model with random read and write speeds of 1,050K IOPS (Input/ output operations per second) and 1,400K IOPS, achieved without internal dynamic random access memory (DRAM). The SSD can be easily installed in laptop and PC motherboards, upgrading both performance and capacity for demanding tasks like gaming and creative work.

The device incorporates Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0 technology for improved data transfer speeds and reduced latency. It also features a nickel-coated controller and a heat-spreading label for enhanced thermal management and product stability.

Users can manage the 990 EVO Plus with Samsung Magician 8.2 software, which offers features such as data migration, firmware updates, drive status monitoring, and data protection.

Son Han-gu, vice president of Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics' Memory Business, emphasized that this product is designed to meet the increasing consumer demand for high-capacity storage with fast data processing speeds.
