SEOUL, September 24 (AJP) - The United States and India have pledged to collaborate on establishing a semiconductor manufacturing plant in India.
Following a meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, the White House announced that the Indian plant will manufacture infrared, gallium nitride and silicon carbide semiconductors.
The two leaders agreed to establish a new semiconductor manufacturing plant in India focused on advanced sensing, communications, and power applications for national security, next-generation communications, and green energy.
The establishment of this plant is expected to be facilitated by support from India's Semiconductor Mission and a technology partnership involving Indian firms Bharath Semiconductors and 3rdiTech, along with the U.S. Space Force.
Meanwhile, Modi is visiting the United States to attend the annual Quad summit, which involves a security dialogue among the U.S., Japan, Australia, and India. The next Quad meeting is scheduled to take place in India in 2025.
