SEOUL, September 20 (AJP) - Samsung Electronics' Indian unit has filed a lawsuit against the labor union leading a strike at its plant in southern India, according to news reports on Friday.

Hundreds of workers at the home appliance factory in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, began an indefinite strike on Sept. 9, marking one of the most significant labor disputes in the country in recent years.

Samsung claimed in the lawsuit that the union's actions "could disrupt the factory's operations and prevent willing employees from fulfilling their duties."

With about 1,800 employees, the facility manufactures refrigerators, washing machines and other home appliances, contributing to roughly one-third of Samsung's annual revenue in India.
