SEOUL, September 17 (AJP) - The chief executive officer of Japanese automobile parts manufacturer Yamaha Motor suffered an arm injury on Monday in what police describe as a knife attack by his adult daughter at their residence in Iwata, Shizuoka Prefecture, authorities reported.

Law enforcement officials said that they have taken into custody Hana Hidaka, 33, on suspicion of attempted murder of her father, Yoshihiro Hidaka, 61. The incident allegedly occurred around 3:00 a.m. local time when the suspect assaulted the victim with a kitchen implement.

According to police records, Ms. Hidaka had contacted authorities twice within a 24-hour period. The initial call was placed around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, followed by a second at the time of the alleged attack, during which she claimed her father had physically abused her.

When approached for comment, a spokesperson for the Iwata-based motorcycle and vehicle manufacturer declined, saying it is, "a private matter that is under investigation."

The case remains under investigation by local authorities.
