Putin, Wang Yi hold talks in Russia

SEOUL, September 13 (AJP) -Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi met in St. Petersburg, Russia on Thursday. Putin extended warm wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and expressed enthusiasm for China's involvement in the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia.

The leaders highlighted the growing strategic partnership between Russia and China, emphasizing equality and mutual benefit. They noted positive progress in bilateral exchanges and cooperation across various sectors.

Putin expressed Russia's commitment to furthering relations with China, mentioning plans to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties. He praised China's support for Russia's BRICS chairmanship and its global diplomatic approach.

Wang conveyed Xi's greetings and affirmed the strong trust and friendship between the two nations. He emphasized their shared stance against unilateral actions and bloc politics, aligning with the interests of Global South countries.

Both sides discussed the expansion of BRICS and their commitment to promoting a multipolar world order. They expressed readiness to collaborate with like-minded countries to advance this goal.

The Ukraine crisis was also addressed. Putin commended the "Six-Point Consensus" by China and Brazil, reiterating Russia's openness to peace talks. Wang reaffirmed China's dedication to facilitating a political resolution to the conflict.

Prior to their meeting, Putin gathered with delegates from the BRICS security officials' meeting, underscoring the importance of this multilateral forum.
