SEOUL, September 11 (AJP) - Two Korean climbers were found dead in the Alps on Tuesday, three days after they went missing, according to the Korean Embassy in France.

French rescuers discovered their bodies near the summit of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps and Western Europe. They were identified as a man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s, who had been reported missing last Saturday by a Korean mountaineering club.

The two were part of a seven-member group who had traveled to the Mont Blanc area, with three members opting to stay at the base camp while the other four attempted the climb. Two climbers became separated from the group due to bad weather and were rescued by helicopter from a point 4,100 meters up the mountain the following day.

The Korean embassy in France said that the bodies were discovered on a sloped surface approximately 100 meters below the summit at 1:15 p.m. (1115 GMT).

Officials have notified the families that their remains have been recovered. France 24, a local media outlet, reported that two Italian climbers who had been missing alongside the Korean climbers were also found dead.
