SEOUL, September 09 (AJP) - Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics presented their artificial intelligence home appliance strategies at IFA 2024 in Berlin, Germany, focusing on building smart home ecosystems powered by artificial intelligence.

LG Electronics introduced its AI agent FURON and AI home hub ThinQ ON at IFA, Europe's largest consumer electronics trade show, which opened Friday for a five-day run.

"Customers only need to communicate with generative AI as they would with friends or family," Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics home appliance & air solution company, said.

LG plans to launch an AI home package by the end of the year, which will allow existing appliances to be upgraded with AI capabilities.

Han Jong-hee, Samsung's device experience division head, emphasized that AI is "endless" and stressed the importance of meeting consumer expectations.

He revealed plans to embed screens in all future home appliances to enhance connectivity. Han also highlighted the expansion of Samsung's Family Hub service globally and the use of knowledge graph technology from the recently acquired Oxford Semantic Technologies.

Both companies emphasized the importance of security in their AI ecosystems. LG introduced LG Shield, while Samsung showcased its blockchain-based Knox Matrix and Knox Vault security systems.

The global smart home market is expected to grow rapidly, with research firm TechNavio projecting it to reach $260.24 billion by 2028.
