SEOUL, Sept. 6 (AJP) - Starting on Sept. 7, The ASEAN-Korean Centre (AKC) will set up a pavilion exhibition space to present the ecological diversity of ten member countries of The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Gwangju Biennale, One of Asia's top contemporary art events, the AKC said Friday.
The AKC is an intergovernmental organization designed to promote economic and socio-cultural cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries and Korea. It serves as a bridge to enhance mutual understanding, exchange, and collaboration in various areas, including trade, investment, tourism, and culture.
According to the AKC, the special exhibition titled "ASEAN Pavilion 2024" will be held at the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju from Sept. 07 to Dec. 01. The exhibition with the main theme of "The Living Palette: Southeast Asia’s Green Legacy," will showcase various culture and tourism-related content to increase awareness and promote the rich cultural heritage and tourism resources of ten ASEAN countries to the biennale's visitors.
The AKC emphasized that its exhibition will offer visitors a meaningful space where they can experience and explore Southeast Asia's rich biodiversity and opportunity to learn about sustainability, which is a crucial global issue.
The AKC Secretary-General Kim Jae-shin said, "I hope the visitors will experience the region’s diverse ecosystem through the exhibition, strengthening the cultural exchanges between ASEAN and Korea, particularly as we celebrate the 35th Anniversary of ASEAN-Korea Dialogue Relations this year."
