SEOUL, Sept. 4 (AJP) - The Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced on Tuesday that China and the United States are set to convene the second meeting of their joint initiative, the Working Group on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s.

John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for International Climate Policy, will travel to China from Sept. 4-6. He will co-lead the meeting alongside Liu Zhenmin, China's special envoy for climate change.

The agenda for this gathering includes comprehensive discussions on concrete collaborative efforts within the working group's framework, each nation's domestic climate policies, and global initiatives to combat climate change.

This working group, established in January 2024, stems from an agreement between the leaders of both countries during their meeting in San Francisco. Its primary goal is to bolster U.S.-China cooperation in addressing the climate crisis.

The upcoming meeting represents a continuation of the dialogue and joint efforts between these two major global powers on critical environmental issues.
