An’s initial criticisms centered around what she perceived as a lack of support and understanding from the association. She expressed concerns about training conditions, athlete welfare, and the overall management of the sport in South Korea.
While apologizing for the impact her initial comments had on her teammates, An emphasized her desire to create a better environment for all athletes. She pointed to areas where she believes the association can improve, including its systems, communication, and overall player care.
“I hope we can have a sincere dialogue instead of a blame game,” An said in a social media post. “I believe open communication is essential for the betterment of badminton in Korea.”
The 22-year-old expressed hope that the association will listen to athletes’ perspectives and implement necessary changes.
The association has faced increased scrutiny since An’s initial comments. The association formed a fact-finding committee in the aftermath of the controversy, but its findings have yet to be publicly released.
An’s call for dialogue comes amid growing concerns about athlete welfare and sports governance in South Korea.
