The 21-year-old lifted a combined 299 kilograms — 131 kilograms in the snatch and 168 in the clean and jerk — to finish second behind China’s Li Wenwen, who successfully defended her Olympic title.
Both the snatch and total weight were new South Korean national records.
Park became the first South Korean medalist in the women’s super heavyweight division since Jang Mi-ran in 2012.
Britain’s Emily Campbell took the bronze medal.
South Korea finished the Paris Games with 32 medals, one shy of its record for most medals at a Summer Olympics.
Earlier on Sunday, Seong Seung-min captured the bronze medal in women’s modern pentathlon, becoming the first South Korean woman to win an Olympic medal in the sport.
The 2024 world champion finished behind Hungary’s Michelle Gulyas and France’s Elodie Clouvel at the Chateau de Versailles. Seong also became the first Asian woman to medal in the event.
Gulyas set a world record with 1,461 points, while Clouvel and Seong finished with 1,452 and 1,441, respectively.
Seong’s strong performance in fencing and swimming helped propel her to the podium. She was second fastest in the 200-meter freestyle and scored a perfect 300 points in equestrian show jumping.
The final event, the laser run, saw a thrilling three-way battle for the medals. Gulyas ultimately pulled away for gold, while Seong held off Hungary’s Blanka Guzi for bronze.
