Suga explained that after having dinner and drinks the previous day, he rode the scooter for about 500 meters (0.3 miles). He fell over while trying to use a kickstand near his home. A policeman nearby checked Suga's breath alcohol level and subsequently revoked his driver's license.
In Korea, a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 percent to less than 0.2 percent results in license revocation and a sentence of up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 10 million won. A BAC of 0.2 percent or higher leads to a sentence of up to five years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.
"I sincerely apologize to all those who were hurt by my careless and wrong actions, and I will be more mindful in my behavior to ensure that such incidents do not occur again in the future," Suga said in a statement.
His agency Big Hit Music also issued an apology, "We apologize for the disappointment caused by the artist's inappropriate behavior. He will receive appropriate disciplinary action for causing concerns. We will be more careful in the future to prevent such incidents from occurring again."
