SEOUL, August 7 (AJU PRESS) - Japan and Mongolia are on the verge of finalizing an agreement to facilitate the reciprocal transfer of military hardware, the Japan Times reported on Tuesday.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh are anticipated to broach the subject during their forthcoming summit in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, later this month, the report said citing Japanese government sources.

Tokyo aspires to ratify the accord by year's end, viewing it as a strategic move to bolster defense ties with Mongolia, a nation that shares frontiers with both China and Russia.

The Japanese government is also contemplating the provision of gratis military equipment to Mongolia in the coming fiscal year.

Furthermore, the two leaders are expected to pledge mutual support in enhancing Mongolia's investment climate, with emphasis on reforming commercial legislation, fortifying financial market supervision and improving bureaucratic transparency, according to the report.
